Chimney Rock State Park Hike

Distance to drive:           about 10 miles 

Distance to walk: about 4 hours round trip 

Hike Rating:                   moderate, hiking boots suggested.

Reward:                Stunning views to LakeLure, Hickory Gorge and the Bald Mountain Range. You may see Kings Mountain 75 miles away. 

Driving direction: 64 west to the gate of Chimney Rock Park. The park is privately owned, admission will be charged. About half way up the mountain is the ticket plaza. Park your car behind the booth at “The Meadows”. 

Hiking direction:  All trails are well marked. From The Meadows take the Woodland Walk to the Four Seasons Trail and on to the Forest Stroll. There you may turn right to proceed to the bottom of the waterfalls, then return along the Forest Stroll on to the stairway connector to Moonshiner’s Cave and a series of stairways, catwalks and passages that lead to the Chimney. Take a break at the Sky Lounge walk the Skyline-Cliff Trail loop. At the end of the CliffTrail, retrace your way back to The Meadows.
