Pisgah National Forest Waterfalls Hike

Hiking Trails:       Covering 157,000 acres, Pisgah National Forest offers a wide variety of outdoor activities:  hiking, fly fishing, waterfall viewing, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding, mountain biking, camping, and picnicking.  There are 500 miles of blazed hiking trails and numerous waterfalls. 

Driving direction: Take Rt. 64 West through Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and Hendersonville.  At the intersection of 64 West and Rt. 276, stay straight on the National Scenic Byway—276 North.  Enter Pisgah National Forest and in three miles come to the Ranger Station/Visitor Center.  Stop here, look at the many exhibits, and get maps and guides to forest trails, waterfalls, the Cradle of Forest Discovery Center, and the Center for Wildlife Education. 

Waterfall Hikes:  Depending on trail conditions, choose hikes for scenic overlooks or to view some of the many area waterfalls:  Looking Glass Falls, Slick Rock Falls, Sliding Rock Falls, Moore Cove Falls, Twin Falls, Cove Creek Falls, and  Courthouse Falls.  

After the forest adventures, go into Brevard on Rt. 64 West for a post-hike sumptuous feast at the Twin Dragons Grand Buffet. Some may then want to visit the numerous gift and antique shops in this attractive college town.  Others may want to go 5.5 miles south on Rt. 276 to view Connestee Falls.
